Consuming Kinetics Dance Company’s (CKDC) spring 2022 concert, Human Disturbance is an interrogation of humankind’s impact on Earth. Through the medium of contemporary dance, Human Disturbance explores topics including climate change, material resource consumption, wildlife preservation, and natural disaster. Our choreographers investigate many of the challenges we face on our planet today while also proposing approaches to address these concerns. In Human Disturbance, we acknowledge the duality of humankind’s destructive and creative impact on the planet; we hold loss, chaos, and apocalypse together with abundance, possibility, and regeneration.
Through both our concerts and through our organizational mission and vision, CKDC hopes to model how every single person has the power to create change, even when it doesn’t seem possible. More importantly, we seek to continue using dance and performance arts as vehicles for community organizing, culture-shifting, and public activism. We believe that not only is dance a catalyst for life in motion, but that dance can cultivate change on a larger scale, impact business practices, and encourage community members of all backgrounds and experiences towards social action.
Join us for an extended Earth Day celebration on April 30th and May 1st at The Marcelle.
CKDC is proud to be a Kranzberg Arts Foundation Resident Company.
