This half day camp runs from 9 to 11: 30 a.m.
Art journaling is a wonderful habit for everyone, not just artists! Keeping a journal that contains one’s inspirations, frustrations, dreams and fears is a way to creatively process everyday life. Campers will study the Grand Center Arts District as a group for on-site drawing and journaling, and have tours at neighboring institutions including the Pulitzer Arts Foundation and Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis. They will receive a new sketchbook and learn different drawing techniques from a professional working artist.
Instructor Jacob Janes is a Missouri-born painter and educator currently living in St. Louis. He received his MFA in Studio Art from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania and now teaches at Janes and Pang Atelier alongside his partner. His artwork celebrates the strengths and possibilities of painting. He enjoys the process of inventing subjects for his compositions, which generally come across as straightforward and poetic.
There must be a minimum of 6 students enrolled in this camp.
