For as long as there has been art, people have become artists for a myriad of reasons: personal expression, financial gain, the lure of adventure. Photography, however, has superseded all other means of expression due to technological advances & the ability for virtually everyone to use, engage & communicate. Photography has become the de facto “universal language”.

From the beginning of my career, I have persisted in evolving alongside every artistic, equipment, business change & used making & taking pictures to inform my interests & always tried to point my camera towards things I thought relevant. My camera has documented my belief system & vice versa.

I have found ways to investigate jazz, wars, the death penalty, Olympics, BLM, hypnagogia & traveled to witness it all first hand. I have sought ways to make my living pursuing these subjects & discovering more. Clients have sent me on assignments to sixty countries, thirteen Olympic Games, to observe the extremes of human abilities & psychological understanding. The images created have filled the pages of books, magazines & websites & appeared on the walls of galleries & museums in an effort to disseminate my ideas & imagination.

Much of my career may appear to be accidental, but to survive in this complex business, it had to be by design. I will talk about reinventing my career, over & over, to make photography the fulcrum of my imagination.
