Scattered around the ocean are locations of such significance that their protection has been scientifically identified as impacting global ocean health. These areas are known as Hope Spots, and the Gulf of California was the very first location inscribed.
Underwater photographer Samantha Schwann presents images, video and a discussion about her work in the Gulf of California, including her current project working with a small team of shark scientists and conservationists. A blend of exploration, science and conservation, “Threshold” utilizes remote operated vehicle (ROV) technology to access rarely-documented habitat beyond the reach of traditional underwater cameras.
